Inspiration
Our inspiration is to give people control of the energy and we're aspiring to help communities develop.
What it does
GreenNet provides P2P energy exchange between households, factories, or simply anyone with the device can join the network.
How we built it
GreenNet uses an ICP network, where participating is not expensive for users. The consensus mechanism is called proof of wattage where each node in the network validates the other node when it exchanges energy. Through consensus, certain parameters are calculated which determine your quality in the network. As for validating new blocks in the blockchain, the pseudo-random algorithm takes into account the quality and the number of stacked coins a node has and selects a random node to validate the new block in the blockchain.
Challenges we ran into
To exchange energy parties we need actual wires in between nodes. This requires infrastructure in between entities. In addition to that, already existing infrastructure may not be available due to governmental constraints. Considering these infrastructure difficulties the network might need actual investment from the users or from an external entity.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Opening the energy grid to the people to give control to the community, a new consensus mechanism to allow the technology.
What we learned
ICP network and how to interface with it, constraints in the energy sector and opportunities to develop it, power of decentralization.
What's next for Kebaps present GreenNet
