Inspiration
There is not enough engagement with students and the societies managed by the KCL student union, leading to students lacking an incentive to explore different societies and groups within the university. This poses the question - how might we leverage technology and gamification to spark greater interest in student society involvement?
What it does
Level Tracking: Society Leaders can create events through the app Make Friends: Track your friends’ progress on the app Leaderboards: Think you can have the best participation in KCL? Track it! Manager Accounts: Society Leaders are able to manage society members Distribute Badges: Society Leaders are able to distribute badges to their members Create Events: Society Leaders can create events through the app
How we built it
We designed the project inside Figma to be a mobile application.
What we learned
Front end user interface design is pretty hard, but it is quite rewarding to actually build something.
What's next for KCL Level Up
Other features we did not have time to display would be a daily login reward feature, granting XP, badges, titles and sometimes cafe or gym rewards for login streaks. This keeps students coming to the app and checking on their society activities. We also considered giving rarity levels to badges and displaying what percentage of users own certain badges. This would increase the value of badges to users, sort of like achievement hunting in video games, keeping them engaged in the app, and to their societies.
