What it does# Inspiration
As a teacher in Japan, I wanted to reduce the time required to create printable mathematics worksheets. Elementary school teachers often spend a significant amount of time preparing practice materials. I wanted to build a simple tool that automatically generates ratio simplification worksheets.
What it does
Kazama Worksheet Builder generates printable worksheets for elementary mathematics.
Current features include:
- Three difficulty levels
- Multiple worksheet sizes
- Automatic generation of unique problems
- Answer sheet with explanations
- Print-friendly layout
- Runs entirely in the browser
How I built it
The application was built using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
GitHub was used for version control, and Vercel was used for deployment.
Challenges
The biggest challenge was creating unique ratio problems while ensuring every answer was reduced to the simplest integer ratio. Another challenge was designing a clean layout suitable for classroom printing.
Accomplishments
I successfully created a working educational web application that teachers can immediately use in class without installing any software.
What I learned
I learned how to deploy a web application using GitHub and Vercel and how to build an educational tool that is simple enough for teachers to use.
What's next
Future versions will support many more worksheet types, including proportions, percentages, fractions, equations, geometry, and AI-assisted worksheet generation.
