What it does
Simple website for a local cafe. It allows users to easily find the cafe and where it is located, along with address and a Google Map preview. It also allows users to read about their 'text and collect' system and how to use it to order food ahead of time and then collect it. It also presents a nicely formatted menu, along with sample pictures of the food and any allergens it contains. There is also a contact section where users can reach out using the appropriate telephone number to contact the cafe.
How I built it
I built this with Angular 5, a front-end framework. It was fairly simple and easy to do.
Challenges I ran into
I had to figure out a way to load menu data, which at first I hard-coded each menu item however decided to pull it from an Angular Service, which loads menu data from a json file. All menu items are now inside a nicely formatted .json file that is extremely easy to edit and move items around, instead of the initial menu being hard-coded values into HTML.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I was able to sell this website - which is the first website I've sold - and it is doing pretty well. I also greatly furthered my knowledge of Angular whilst developing this website.
What I learned
I learnt more in depth about Angular Services, along with some new directives and pipes.
What's next for Kate's Kitchen
Perhaps an upgraded UI, a nicer front-page with perhaps a background image of the cafe itself.
