Inspiration

Trading is cool, reddit is cool, trading + reddit even better.

What it does

"Karma Street Bets" is a stock market simulation that lives directly inside a Reddit post.

Trade Real Posts: It pulls live content from various subreddits. You start with $100 and buy "shares" of posts you like.

Market News: A ticker at the top gives you hints (like "Tech stocks crashing!"). You have to read the news and decide whether to sell or buy before the market updates.

Auto-Save: Your cash and portfolio are saved automatically. You can close the tab, come back tomorrow, and your empire is still there.

How we built it

Research, AI, coding and love:)

Challenges we ran into

The biggest headache was the UI space. Since Devvit posts have a fixed height, fitting a whole stock market interface with buttons and lists was tricky. We had to build a custom pagination system because there's no native scrolling yet. Also, ensuring the "Auto-Save" worked reliably without lag took some testing.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We managed to build a fully functional economy that saves your progress, all running inside a single Reddit post. It feels like a real app, not just a post.

What we learned

We learned a lot about state management in Devvit and how to design UI for constrained spaces (making things fit on small screens).

What's next for Karma Street Bets

We will see forward to improve our project, giving players and judges the best experience, and maybe even winning something.:)
