KarenAI

Inspiration

After being on hold for over an hour with Verizon, I was determined to build KarenAI, an AI-powered chatbot and voice synthesizer that sounds like a Karen which will fight for you to ensure you receive the best customer service possible. KarenAI can navigate complex phone systems, speak to customer service representatives, and advocate on your behalf with the tenacity and entitlement of a true Karen.

What it does

KarenAI is an AI-powered chatbot and voice synthesizer designed to assist people in dealing with difficult customer service situations.

How we built it

We built KarenAI by using OpenAi's GPT-4 to generate a script that sounds just like a Karen with the end goal of resolving your customer service issues. We then used clips of Karen complaining on the internet to synthesize a voice that sounds like Karen and had it read out the script. Finally, we deployed it using Gradio to allow it to generate custom scripts.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into some issues involving the processing of the Karen sounds and making a voice that sounded like a true Karen.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are really proud of how Karen sounded at the end! The voice is very accurate and showcased the inflections that we wanted the voice to highlight.

What we learned

We learned a lot about how to preprocess audio and which clips worked the best for voice synthetization.

What's next for KarenAI

We think there are a number of different applicants that KarenAI can be used for. Mainly, KarenAI can be used to cancel and negotiate your bills similar to RocketMoney to ensure you are not being overcharged.
