Inspiration

Seeing that there are very few ways to learn about sustainability in an engaging manner, I decided to try to educate people about sustainability while having fun. Recognizing that we need everybody's involvement on the subject and that without knowledge we will never get to the right solutions, I came with the idea of a fun way to educate following the traces of Duolingo and others.

What it does

By offering fun, interactive and entertaining quizzes to users, Karambola raises awareness on the sustainability challenges we face. By offering quizzes in each languages, we are able to cater to the audience and to offer region focused quizzes. The rankings make the Karambola experience fun and offers gratification to the most active users\

How we built it

For a while I wanted to build my application. Lacking time and ideas, I found FlutterFlow to help me build the UI and the ideas came flowing. Allowing me to iterate through ideas and come to the current product in less than 3 months, I spent the rest of the time finishing features that were essential to me.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge we are going to face is to be able to maintain our infrastructure and grow while keeping the product free from mandatory ads.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The biggest achievement so far for us was to find a way to generate quizzes in an easy way all while maintaining good quality. We now have the process with the help of AI and we can create a lot of quizzes even localized in instants while keeping a great quality.

What we learned

Even if I have already what I consider a basic MVP, the more I push the idea, the more interesting features come to mind so that we can offer a personalized experience to the user and not only educate, but also work on the mindset towards sustainability by showing the impact that climate change has and what will happen to their environment if nothing changes.

What's next for Karambola

We have a lot of new things coming. We will release this year a feature that will show personalized stories to the user for each quizz on what is the impact of the subject on his daily life, what will happen and how to act. We want to develop the call to action in terms of sustainability by partnering with companies to offer jobs, action, associations that can help on each sustainability topic. We plan to offer specialized quizzes to companies, community driven quizzes and drive the community with a strong presence on social media
