Inspiration
KOPTA was inspired by the need for greater accessibility in urban environments. Many mobility-impaired individuals face daily challenges navigating obstacles such as stairs or blockades. Our goal was to create a solution that empowers these users to move freely and confidently in their surroundings, enhancing their independence and quality of life.
What it does
KOPTA is an innovative navigation app designed specifically for mobility-impaired users. It utilizes real-time health data, such as heart rate and step count, to assess the user's physical condition and determine the best routes to avoid obstacles. By automatically detecting challenging terrains, KOPTA provides users with alternative paths that are safer and more accessible, ensuring a smoother travel experience.
How we built it
We built KOPTA using a flutter frontend which access health connect, such that we can integrate with as many smart devices as possible. During the development we set ourself the strict requirement that your personal health care data never leaves your phone. We developed a robust obstacle detection system that analyzes this data to identify potential challenges in the user's environment.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges we faced was ensuring accurate obstacle detection in various environments. Different terrains and urban layouts can significantly affect the app's performance. Additionally, integrating health data posed some technical hurdles, as the accuracy and availability varies from one device to the next.
