We decided we wanted to develop something useful and helpful for our daily live. AI facial recognition gave us a new challenge to work with. But also years of sending pictures to friends just because we took them.
What it does
It shares pictures taken by you (or by anyone that has the application), searches for your registered friends and sends them to their phones automatically. In this way, you won't need to send them because it will be already done.
How we built it
We used a lot of resources. The main code is written in Kotlin using Android Studio but using a lot of APIs. The main one is the Microsoft Azure which is used to create facial recognitions groups and analyse the data. We also have used some AWS services such as S3 and RDS to be able to make the communication between users possible.
Challenges we ran into
Using a proper JDBC library for being able to connect to an AWS RDS, parsing JSON returned by Microsoft Azure. But of course to develop something completely new from scratch, all the products used (appart from Android Studio) and also the language.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Having a fully functional auto flowchart that analyses images and sends them to the people that belong to.
What we learned
Microsoft Azure and AWS as well as combining both services.
What's next for Kammerat
Auto analyse images when taken!
