Kaliki is the end-to-end platform that enables busy people to listen to newspapers and magazines — especially during their morning and evening commutes. Kaliki will be installed in over 1.5M vehicles between June 2012 and June 2013, and works on all major mobile devices (iOS, Android, etc). We have secured major advertisers to provide audio ads on content streamed on the Kaliki Audio Newsstand. This enables content owners to monetize their content in the Audio Newsstand without any effort.

We focus on partnering with major media brands such as newspapers and magazines. Content owners are constantly looking into how to leverage their existing content to create new revenue streams. Kaliki solves this problem by converting their content into audio, and provides multiplatform client applications to enable users to stream the audio content and images wherever they are. The Kaliki Audio Newsttand will also be preinstalled in over 1.5M vehicles over the next 12 months, and we anticipate Kaliki to be preinstalled in an estimated 5-7M vehicles in the next 24 months.
Kaliki focuses on high-quality audio encoding using human voice-overs instead of text-to-speech. Based upon feedback from decision makers in the media industry, publishers prefer real human voices to represent their premium content instead of text-to-speech. This preference is also echoed by end-users and advertisers: consumers overwhelmingly prefer to listen to real voices compared to text-to-speech, and advertisers are willing to pay higher CPMs for audio ads for content with human voices.
