Inspiration

The beloved Tamagotchi toy was big inspiration to us and to on theme we decided to use a wild wild west cactii background.

What it does

-It's a simple budgeting app that allows users to gamify their budgeting. Each cactus on a users app represents a budget and when the user goes over budget the cactus gets overwatered and dies!

How we built it

• We used Claude AI for a lot of the ground work and then we went in and changed the UI to really make it our own.

Challenges we ran into

-We have yet to make a full domain for this application so a lot of it is still in the works.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

• We are really proud of a lot of the preplanning and ground work that we set before we started coding the project. It really feels like we built a full product even though our code may not fully be there yet we have plenty of plans to improve this for the future.

What we learned

• We got some amazing tips from mentors about what concerns they would have using the app, such as data privacy, that really helped us build this idea with user preferences in mind. We also got great tips from other mentors about how to use multiple Claude Code agents to do work simultaneously and speed up our process.
  

What's next for Kakuotchi

Improve personalization by adding the ability to customize the cacti Hats, flowers, faces. Additional user-friendly features are in the works to make this a more complete product. Graph presentation of spending history of each cacti. Improve accountability by sharing your budgeting with other friends. Creating a shared budget with other people. Interface with current systems and connect it directly to your banking platform.
