Inspiration

As a Diploma Computer Engineer, I often noticed a recurring problem in our community: someone is looking for an electrician, someone else needs a tailor, or a home tutor or mason. Yet, just 2–3 kilometers away, there might be a skilled person sitting idle, waiting for work, and the two simply don’t know about each other. This gap inspired me to build “Kajer Haat” — a fully Bangla, easy-to-use, mobile-first web application that connects people in need of services with nearby skilled individuals.

What it does

Kajer Haat is a location-based local service platform where two types of users exist: Service Providers and Service Seekers. Main features include: • Facebook-style service feed showing provider cards • Map view with skill-based filters showing providers near you • Smart search that works even with misspellings • Real-time approximate distance based on your location • Detailed profile • All content and UI in Bangla for ease of use

How we built it

I built the entire project using Bolt.new, a powerful no-code/low-code platform, completely through prompt-based development. Technologies Used: • Supabase (for backend database) • Bolt.new (for UI and logic) • Leaflet Maps (for map integration) • Prompt-generated Bangla UI (mobile-first, simple design) • Minimal use of emoji or visuals to keep it clean Database Design: • User_Profile table for both provider and seeker info • Data_Service table for skill category, location, and service info Bottom Tab Navigation includes: Home, Map, Search, Chat, Profile — all in Bangla.

Challenges we ran into

• Making the search tolerant to Banglish spelling errors (e.g., "ilaktishian" or "plambar") • Balancing performance while using both a scrollable feed and real-time map • Designing a profile that looks like a Facebook page but keeps simplicity • Ensuring UI works well across mobile devices while remaining lightweight

Accomplishments that we're proud of

• Fully functional web app made with only prompts — no coding required • Complete UI in Bangla language, tailored for non-tech-savvy users • Nearby service discovery based on real-time location • Map integration without relying on Google Maps

What we learned

• How to structure a local problem into a real digital product • Bolt.new and Supabase integration for scalable web development • Prompt-based UI development is powerful and fast • UI/UX in native language matters significantly for user adoption

What's next for Kajer Haat

• Profile verification and ID validation features • SMS and phone-based booking confirmations • Geo-targeted notification and area-specific posts • Featured provider promotion and monetization features • PWA/web version expansion with offline capabilities • Chat moderation and rating management tools

Note (Current Status)

Kajer Haat is currently an ongoing web app project. There may be some minor bugs or limitations, which I will fix gradually. My primary goal is to make it usable and effective for the general public. More features and improvements will be added in the future.
