Problem Statement & Objective

Despite Singapore's best efforts, there are gaps and issues with regards to every process in this fight against Covid-19. As such, this project aims to minimise such issues via the idea of an all-in-one app that accounts for the numbers, breaks down and tracks every single process along with highlighting any issues to the user, in this case, the task-force team. The main inspiration came from one of the interviews shown on Channel 5, whereby a returning Singaporean gave feedback that there was confusion as his name was not initially highlighted to be quarantined after returning from a high-risk country. He went to clarify and found out that his name was indeed on the list. If he had not clarified and was a carrier of the virus, his case would have gone unnoticed, leading to a creation of a new cluster if he did not undergo quarantine. Imagine if many of such cases go unnoticed. Hence, such an app may be vital in making sure such issues are accounted for.

What it does

This is an all-in-one application which tracks every single process from the moment the traveller arrives in Singapore to the moment he/she has reached the end of their quarantine phase. This app makes use of analytics and feedback to communicate to users what the issues are so that they are able to make changes and enhance processes. For example, in the Arrivals section, there are travellers who are not accounted for and the staff raised the issue that there are travellers who insisted on leaving the airport, hence this will resonate with why there are people who are not being accounted for. With such issues communicated clearly, the task-force is able to work with the airport to implement changes by bringing on more security personnel and so on.

How I built it

I design the mockup using only Powerpoint. I referred to several other dashboards for colour scheme and design inspiration.

Challenges I ran into

Initially, I wanted to develop a functional dashboard using HTML, CSS and Javascript so that a user goes through the full experience and have a concrete idea of how the application works. However given the skill and time constraint due to me joining this event late along with me having exams during this period, I had to resort to just creating a basic mockup design. Another challenge I came across would be deciding what kind of features should be included in the dashboard.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Even though I am disappointed that my submission is not functional and very basic, I am proud of being able to contribute to the pool of ideas in one way or another.

What I learned

Deciding what features to be implemented is the most crucial step. This has to be done carefully and in a real project it will require quite some time.

What's next

In my free time, I plan on creating a functional prototype using HTML, CSS and Javascript.
