Inspiration

As a student developer, I realized the importance of having a modern portfolio that not only showcases my projects but also reflects my growth and technical journey. Many opportunities—internships, hackathons, collaborations—begin with how you present yourself online, so I wanted to create a personal website that truly represents me.

What it does kaiweipersonalweb is my personal developer portfolio. It highlights my projects, skills, and journey as a developer in a clean, interactive, and responsive way. The site is designed to be a central hub for anyone interested in my work, providing easy navigation and an engaging experience.

How we built it Frontend Framework: React with TypeScript for type safety and scalability. UI Libraries: Material-UI for component structure, Tailwind CSS for responsive design and styling flexibility. State Management: Redux Toolkit for managing global state and ensuring smooth interactivity. Deployment: Hosted on a modern cloud platform ( Google App Engine) for global accessibility.

Challenges we ran into Balancing design consistency between Material-UI components and Tailwind customization. Managing state complexity for interactive sections without over-engineering. Making the website fully responsive across multiple devices and screen sizes.

Accomplishments that we're proud of Successfully built a fully functional and visually appealing developer portfolio from scratch. Integrated multiple modern web technologies into one cohesive project. Created a platform that I can continue to expand with future projects and achievements.

What i learned Practical skills in combining React + TypeScript with both Material-UI and Tailwind. Better understanding of design systems, component reusability, and responsive design principles. Experience in project structuring, version control, and deployment pipelines. What's next for kaiweipersonalweb Add blog functionality to share insights, tutorials, and project write-ups. Implement dark mode and more advanced animations for better user engagement. Expand the portfolio to include hackathon projects, AI tools, and open-source contributions. Continuously refine the design as my skills evolve and new technologies emerge.
