Inspiration

The idea for Kairoria was born from a simple observation while using Airbnb: if we can rent out our homes, why not other items that we don't use every day? I envisioned a platform where people could easily rent out their belongings, turning unused items into a source of income and providing affordable access to things people need. This hackathon was the perfect opportunity to bring this idea to life.

What it does

Kairoria is a peer-to-peer rental marketplace that connects people who want to rent items with those who have items to lend. From cameras and drones to party supplies and sporting equipment, Kairoria provides a platform for users to find what they need, when they need it. Our goal is to build a community where sharing is simple, secure, and sustainable.

How we built it

We built Kairoria utilize bolt's AI coding functionality. The frontend is built with Next.js and TypeScript, creating a fast and responsive interface. For the backend, we leveraged Supabase, using its powerful suite of tools for our database, authentication, and serverless Edge Functions. This allowed us to build a secure and scalable application in a short amount of time.

Challenges we ran into

Like any hackathon project, we faced our fair share of challenges. The biggest hurdle was the tight time constraint, which forced us to prioritize features and make quick decisions. We also ran into some complex technical issues, particularly with dealing with user. Learning to work with new technologies under pressure was a significant challenge, but it was also a valuable learning experience.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Despite the challenges, we're incredibly proud of what we've accomplished. We successfully built a functional prototype with core features like user authentication, product listings, and a booking system. Although we haven't done the app entirely, we still learn a lot during the process.

What we learned

This hackathon has been an incredible learning journey. We learned the importance of effective teamwork, clear communication, and agile development. We also gained hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies like Next.js and Supabase, which will be invaluable in our future projects. Most importantly, we learned that with a clear vision and a dedicated team, we can build something amazing in just a few days.

What's next for Kairoria

This is just the beginning for Kairoria. We have a long list of features we'd love to add, including a user rating and review system, an integrated messaging platform, and advanced search filters. We also plan to expand our platform to more cities and build a strong, vibrant community of renters and lenders. We're excited about the future of Kairoria and the potential it has to change the way we think about ownership and sharing.
