Inspiration

What inspired our project was the recent legislation pertaining to censorship and the targeting of LGBTQIA+ communities in the USA. With book bans and censorship within popular media sources through targeted algorithms, our website seeks to bridge that gap and give users uncensored access to targeted media sources.

What it does

The website allows users to read and access banned or censored books or works of literature. Users can also treat the website as a "book club" and interact with the media by commenting or discussing with fellow readers.

How we built it

We used Visual Studio Code and created code in Python, TypeScript, HTML, Shell, Dockerfile, and Nix to create the front and back ends.

Challenges we ran into

As a beginner group, we had a learning curve to overcome in creating the project. We used advice from our more experienced group member to move forward and complete the project.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of being able to commit to a creative idea and make it come to life. As beginners, 3/4 of us have very limited experience and we tried our bests to gain an understanding of the material and process of creating a coded project.

What we learned

We learned how to make use of Visual Studio Code as well as Github to collaborate as a team and create a project.
