🕊️ Inspiration

“Today, my mother died… or maybe it was yesterday.”

The film begins with the same absurd calm as Albert Camus’ book ’L’Étranger’.
‘Mr. Wayne in Seoul’ is a portrait of displacement — of a man caught between languages, continents, and selves. Set against the sleepless glow of Seoul, the story sings in Camus’ tone: detached yet painfully aware. It asks what it means to belong in a world that greets difference with polite distance, and whether AI — a machine born without a homeland — can understand that same ache.

🎥 What it does

This work is an AI-powered music film built on the lyrics of ‘Mr. Wayne in Seoul’, a poetic monologue of identity and estrangement. Each verse becomes a visual chapter: the subway, the café, the empty street at dawn — rendered through Midjourney, Kling AI, and Heygen, then edited in CapCut Pro to form a single cinematic sequence. The result blurs song and film, memory and simulation. It is neither documentary nor fiction, but a mirror where code remembers what it means to feel foreign.

⚙️ How we built it

  • Lyrics & Narrative: Written as free-verse poetry capturing cultural alienation, performed through synthesized vocals that echo emotional restraint and quiet irony.
  • Visuals: Midjourney/Nano Banana generated city imagery; Kling AI animated sequences with dynamic camera flow.
  • Performance & Lip-sync: Heygen handled human expression and Elevenlabs mirrored the voice for vocal realism.
  • Editing & Color: Cut and graded in CapCut Pro and Topaz Video AI to enhanced the vivid and nocturnal palette of Seoul.
  • AI Direction: ChatGPT and Gemini assisted in structuring rhythm, pacing, and emotional arc — a true collaboration between human intention and machine interpretation.

🧩 Challenges we ran into

Capturing ‘loneliness without cliché’ was the hardest part.
AI tends to beautify; Seoul here needed to feel lived-in, tired, almost apologetic.
Finding that fragile balance between melancholy and empathy took dozens of regenerations, tuning every frame until the city itself seemed to breathe.

🌈 Accomplishments that we're proud of

We built a fully independent pipeline — no studio, no crew, only algorithms and emotion. The film resonated globally, reached over 19,000 YouTube followers and 3,100 Instagram fans in 3.5 months since quiet Debut, and expanded the ‘K-garoo Universe’ into narrative cinema, proving that AI music videos can carry philosophical weight, not just visual novelty.

📚 What we learned

AI is not here to replace human sensitivity; it’s here to ‘reflect it’.
Through this project, we learned that technology can reinterpret alienation with surprising honesty — that a voice synthesized from data can still tremble like a human one. As Camus wrote, “In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer.” This film is that quiet discovery, rendered in pixels and light.

🚀 What’s next for Mr. Wayne in Seoul

The next step is expanding this universe through collaborative storytelling — inviting other AI artists, filmmakers, and musicians to co-create across borders. We aim to continue building a human-AI creative ecosystem where empathy, not efficiency, leads the way.
