Inspiration: In corporate finance, an overlooked 90-day auto-renewal clause can quietly lock a company into a multi-million dollar contract extension they didn't want. Traditional contract management relies heavily on manual legal reviews and siloed CRM data, leading to missed deadlines and massive financial exposure. We built Justif.AI to bridge the gap between finance operations, legal compliance, and CRM pipelines, ensuring companies never blindly roll into an expensive contract again.

What it does: Justif.AI turns passive legal documents into live, risk-managed financial assets. It automatically ingests active agreements and public corporate filings (like SEC EDGAR), extracts critical date metadata, and tracks financial value pipelines. For example, when monitoring a $4.2\text{M}/\text{year}$ Sysco Distribution Agreement, the system automatically calculates the exact non-renewal deadline and triggers proactive, automated legal negotiation loops directly via Slack before the financial exposure becomes permanent.

How we built it: We engineered an agentic legal intelligence pipeline:

Data Integration: Built connectors to pull text directly from live enterprise agreement repositories and the SEC EDGAR system.

The Intelligence Layer: Implemented advanced LLM-powered parsing architectures that skip simple keyword searches in favor of deep context awareness, dynamically pulling liability terms, values, and dates.

Proactive Automation: Tied our backend to enterprise communication channels, allowing the agent to spin up contextual Slack triage channels for legal teams when critical decision windows approach.

Challenges we ran into: Our biggest hurdle was the sheer inconsistency and complexity of legal prose. Renewal deadlines are rarely stated as a clean date; they are usually buried in dense legalese like "this agreement shall automatically renew unless written notice is provided at least ninety (90) days prior to the expiration of the then-current term." We had to carefully calibrate our chunking strategies and prompts to handle complex, multi-step temporal reasoning to ensure the AI could reliably trace backward from an expiration date to calculate the true final day for non-renewal.

Accomplishments that we're proud of: We successfully moved past the standard "AI chatbot" paradigm to create a truly proactive, agentic system. Witnessing the engine successfully parse a messy, multi-page corporate agreement, extract a future deadline, and independently initiate a highly contextual negotiation playbook in Slack without any manual human prompting was a massive milestone for us.

What we learned: We learned that the true value of AI in enterprise operations is actionability, not just summarization. A static dashboard listing dates still requires human memory and is prone to failure. By closing the loop between contract ingestion and automated, downstream communication pipelines, we can transform passive legal portfolios into active, risk-managed streams.

What's next for Justif.AI—a B2B LegalTech Assistant: We want to expand Justif.AI's capabilities from simply triggering negotiation loops to actively assisting in them. This includes building multi-agent negotiation simulations that can automatically draft redlined contract revisions based on a company's historical legal playbooks, streamlining the renewal process from detection all the way to execution.
