Project Description

Problem: Programs like "Innocence" look for innocent people in jail and fight their cases for them. They receive approximately 6,000 requests per year, out of which they can only work on 50 cases. JusticeLens makes it easier for attorneys to navigate parole hearings. Parole hearings generate lengthy transcripts that attorneys must manually review for bias, procedural issues, and indicators of innocence, a time-consuming process that can miss critical details affecting case outcomes.

Solution: JusticeLens uses AI to automatically analyze parole hearing transcripts, detecting commissioner bias, extracting case information, calculating innocence likelihood scores, and generating comprehensive legal memos.

Technologies: React 18 + TypeScript frontend, Tailwind CSS + shadcn/ui for UI, Lovable Cloud (PostgreSQL database, Edge Functions, Auth, Storage), Lovable AI Gateway (Gemini/GPT models), PDF.js for document parsing.

Purpose

Wrongful convictions affect thousands. Defense attorneys and innocence organizations are often understaffed and overwhelmed. We built JusticeLens to amplify their capacity, letting AI handle initial transcript analysis so attorneys can focus on advocacy. A single missed bias indicator or overlooked innocence claim could mean years of unjust incarceration.

User Flow: Upload transcript → Select analysis modules → AI processes document → Review results → Collaborate with team → Export or transfer to case management

No external datasets—the AI analyzes user-uploaded transcripts in real-time.
