Inspiration

Justice Navigator AI (JUNAV AI) was created to solve a real problem: legal documents are difficult to understand for most people. Court decisions, evidence, timelines, and procedural rules are often overwhelming without legal training. We wanted to build an AI-powered assistant that helps ordinary people understand complex legal cases, organize evidence, identify contradictions, and prepare more effectively.

What it does

Justice Navigator AI analyzes legal documents using OpenAI models. It extracts timelines, identifies contradictions, detects evidence gaps, generates interactive questions, and helps users navigate complex legal cases through an intuitive interface. The platform transforms lengthy legal documents into structured, actionable information.

How we built it

We built Justice Navigator AI using OpenAI GPT-5.6, Codex, React, Next.js, TypeScript, Node.js, and OCR technologies. The platform combines document processing, AI reasoning, and an interactive user interface to help users analyze legal cases quickly and efficiently.

Challenges we ran into

Legal documents vary significantly in format, structure, and quality. One of the biggest challenges was designing an AI workflow capable of extracting reliable information from complex court documents while presenting the results in a simple and understandable way.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We created a working platform capable of importing legal documents, generating timelines, detecting contradictions, identifying evidence gaps, and producing interactive legal questions. Justice Navigator AI demonstrates how modern AI can make legal information significantly more accessible.

What we learned

Developing Justice Navigator AI showed us how powerful OpenAI models are when combined with thoughtful product design. We learned that AI can greatly improve access to legal information by simplifying complex documents without replacing legal professionals.
