Project Story: JustBot
About the Project
JustBot is a text-based platform aimed at providing easy access to legal information and assistance. Our goal is to make legal knowledge accessible to everyone, breaking down complex issues and offering guidance on rights and responsibilities.
Inspiration
We were inspired by the challenges people face when seeking legal help. High costs, limited resources, and complex legal language often prevent individuals from understanding or defending their rights. We wanted to create a solution that empowers users with essential knowledge, especially around employee rights, landlord-tenant issues, and law enforcement interactions.
How We Built It
JustBot was developed using:
- Dialogflow for natural language processing, allowing smooth, conversational interactions.
- Google Cloud for backend infrastructure, offering scalability and security.
- Render for deployment, ensuring users can access JustBot at any time.
Our team divided tasks using agile methodologies, building and refining features quickly. Each member’s unique skills, from coding to legal insight, contributed to JustBot’s development.
Challenges Faced
Building JustBot posed several challenges:
- Legal Complexity: Simplifying legal information while keeping it accurate was tough. We had to balance accessibility with legal correctness.
- Technical Integration: Integrating multiple platforms (Dialogflow, Google Cloud, and Render) required time and effort to resolve compatibility issues.
- User Experience: Creating a simple, user-friendly interface was essential. We iterated on the design, testing with users to ensure clarity and ease.
What We Learned
Through this project, we learned more about the legal needs of everyday users and the technical requirements of integrating various platforms.
