Inspiration

According to Ong (2021), over 200,000 seniors have yet to receive the vaccination jab. Based on Knoema’s findings, there are over 100,000 senior citizens who are illiterate and unable to read or write. Seniors who are not vaccinated and are illiterate are at risk of severe illness if they are diagnosed with COVID-19.

What it does

Educate the elderly on the different types of Covid-19 vaccinations, side effects and encourage them to vaccinate. There will be Covid-19 educational videos such as emphasising the significance of wearing a mask (to protect themselves and their loved ones), etc. (Supports audio and multi-language function for the deaf and non-English users) There will also be notifications and news of recent Covid cases in Singapore. To persuade more elderly to know more, there will be mini-quizzes and games relating to Covid for them to take part in and get points. These points can be redeemed for vouchers. Additionally, the application will be linked to Trace Together. The elderly will be able to know if the vicinity is safe to enter based on the number of people present currently. For example, if Trace Together determines that the vicinity is overcrowded, the application will recommend the elderly to avoid the location. Finally, there will be a hotline function that allows the elderly to easily call the healthcare hotline just by a click of a button.
