Satellitious, "Pertaining to, or consisting of, satellites."
Inspiration
I was inspired to make a Asteroids like game, but I wanted it to take place in a space like environment. I also took inspiration from Kerbal Space Program.
What it does
- Control a space ship in a solar system and enter asteroid belts to destroy asteroids. ## How I built it
- the game is built entirely with pygame ## Challenges we ran into The bare bones nature of pygame mean that every game component has to be programmed from scratch. Everything from the UI to the physics simulation had to be programmed from nothing. ## Accomplishments that we're proud of I am extremely proud of the gravity simulation, the ship is attracted by nearby planets and the sun, and the ship is still fun to pilot. ## What I learned I learned a lot about pygame's many different componets including Surfaces, Rect, and Vector2. I learned that when using Newton's law of universal gravitation, to solve for acceleration one must divide out the planet's mass. ## What's next for Satellitious
- I would love to implement other game features like moons, upgrades, and an alien enemy.
