I was inspired by the absurdly intimidating appearance of the Shoebill Stork and the genre of nature documentaries. I wanted to create a fast, vertical spoof that flipped the power dynamic: what if the animal decided to hunt the hunter?

What it does

This 15-second vertical video is a hilarious short-form satire. It's designed to be instantly shareable, presenting a high-quality wildlife encounter that quickly descends into chaos and physical comedy.

How we built it

I used AI to generate the hyper-realistic Shoebill Stork, blending it with live-action footage of the hunter in the wetlands. The challenge was making the motion fluid and the bird's final "aggression" look believable before its final laugh.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge was blending the AI bird into the foggy, atmospheric background. Getting the light on the bird to match the ambient light of the setting required extensive post-production and color work.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud of the seamless blend of the AI and live-action elements. The final visual effect, where the bird appears massive and real, makes the simple gag incredibly successful.

What we learned

Subverting audience expectation is the core of good comedy. By starting with a serious nature doc tone, the immediate payoff of the bird's aggression is amplified.

What's next for Just a Weird Bird

This is "Ep 1" of a larger "Animals Gone Wild" series concept I plan to continue for my social channels.
