Inspiration

Our wonderful team as socially responsible individuals wanted to contribute for a Greener Tomorrow through an innovative idea using the technology at our hand. We believe that through the use of this application we will be engaged in waste reduction as well as in raising awareness regarding the same. Junk Transformers is meant to play an important role in sustaining the natural balance of the environment as well as in supporting local business.

What it does

Junk Transformers allows users to recycle the daily waste materials of home instead of trashing them and at the same time earn rewards from it. The app allows to sort and add items of recycle value into a cart , checkout the cart and to get credited with points after the items are dropped off and validated at a store . Based on the recyclable value of a Product, it’s points increases. The points earned can be redeemed from the same store’s online shop which sells recycled goods.

How we built it

Spring Boot , Java for Backend . React for Front-end

Challenges we ran into

Less resources to work on the code and one of our developer machines crashed. But we managed to get a working prototype.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

One of our developer is fresher and working for the first time in React . All three of us are joining a Hackathon for the first time , Since it was for ladies it inspired us to go for it. And it has helped us to go beyond our roles and work as team to build the product and expand our skills on other ares like Requirements Gathering, Design , finally build and tested the product.

What we learned

How we can develop an app within limited time and meet the deadline. Increased knowledge on CoreJava and React.

What's next for Junk Transformers

We would like to implement Admin accounts and Online Shopping App for Recycled Goods that are available at the Junk Transformers store.
