While thinking about our project, we wanted to create something meaningful. Our goal was to create an idea rather than completing the full implementation of the app. We wanted to educate people about financial literacy and break the stereotypes that budgeting is always saving or limiting one’s desires. Our project is a reminder to teenagers that budgeting should be a key to a balanced life and future opportunities, not an access to materialistic values. We discovered this idea while working on the project and it was a realization for us too that financial literacy teaches us to distribute money wisely rather than keeping the largest sum that would be available. While building the app, we had to always check that our idea is visible and does not blend behind the financial concepts. We also wanted to show teenagers that they have outside support such as a Capital One student credit card that can help to gain them financial independence. In the end, our app shows that gaining the biggest amount of money won’t guarantee the happy life.
