Inspiration
We were inspired by this year's sustainability theme along with our love of game design!
What it is
Jungle jumper is a short game where you play as a monkey navigating through a rainforest and solving problems for its inhabitants!
How we built it
We built our game in Godot, using a mix of our own handmade pixel art and premade assets. We used generative AI to come up with ideas and help us figure out the roots of the issues in our code.
Challenges we ran into
Our team going into this project had very little experience in Godot, so there was a steep learning curve. At some points, we were unsure what our bugs even were! We had to change our player's entire movement system in order to make climbing work, which was tedious.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are so proud of our dedication to this project in our first ever hackathon! Even when things were very difficult, we stayed persistent and were able to sort out bugs and uncertainties.
What we learned
Throughout the process of creating this game, we became much more familiar wigh Godot, and we were delighted when we reached the point that creating new functionalities became more intuitive instead of leading us down an internet rabbit hole of documentation.
What's next for Jungle Jumper
We hope to improve the games graphics, make the physics smoother, and add more challenge stages!
