Inspiration
We love food! We like cooking, going to food trips and eating and we want everyone to be able to enjoy good food. However, due to medical conditions, religion or other reasons, a number of our friends always have reservations on the food that is served to them. We would like to help them achieve peace of mind and enjoy their dining experience.
What it does
Introducing, SaiFood! a simple easy to use app that allows users to upload photos of the food they took and see what ingredients or possible allergens are in a particular dish. Using AI, photos are identified based on appearance and their ingredients are matched.
How we built it
Our project is a smorgasbord of multiple APIs. The image processing and identification is via Google Cloud APIs. The recipe, ingredients and other details are thanks to Recipe, Edamam, Bing News, Contextual Web Search from Rakuten Rapid API.
Challenges we ran into
Some of the information that we wanted to display are not yet available.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Coming to this venue from our dorm in Okutama is a challenge in itself and we're proud to be able to participate here and that we were able to challenge ourselves and deliver a product that we worked hard on.
What we learned
It's our first time to use lots of APIs. We learned a lot about integration, authentication, and design.
What's next for SaiFood
We would like to make our UX more crisp by expanding the platform to explore the social side of things.
