Inspiration
We came up with an idea to use Bosch XDK for tracking the motions of snowboard, so the rider can get a feedback in real time. That will allow him to improve his riding skills.
What it does
Tracks the motions of the snowboard (bending, twisting, rotation, acceleration, orientation in 3D space). Our solution
How we built it
We installed two Bosch XDK sensors on the front and the tail of snowboard to measure acceleration and angles (x, y, z axis).
Challenges we ran into
Getting the data form sensor in real time, so we had to use logging software. Also it was hard put the data into reasonable format for displaying and analysing. Another challenge was syncing the data from two sensors.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We created a new data parser for processing the data from logging software.
What we learned
We learned to use Bosch XDK development kit with MEMS sensors. Improved data processing skills.
Future plans
Our solution will provide an analytics of the snowboard ride in real time. Recognize the mistakes of the rider and give suggestions for improvement. Also it will recognise tricks (flips, rolls, nollies, jumps…) and estimate their quality.
