Inspiration
Jump Quest was inspired by casual timing-based games like “Jump Jump” and builds upon our previous Jump Quest Kit world from the Remix World competition, which provided a basic framework for platforms, scoring, and jump mechanics. Our goal was to create a fun, social, multiplayer experience with simple yet engaging gameplay.
What it does
Jump Quest is a multiplayer jumping game where players hop across playful platforms such as fruits, toys, and cushions on a flat plane. Players must time their jumps carefully to maintain rhythm and score points, competing with friends in real time.
How we built it
We extended the Jump Quest Kit using Meta Horizon tools, adding new platform types, animations, sounds, and multiplayer synchronization. We leveraged GenAI to generate textures for platforms and ground surfaces, as well as to assist in creating code for platform behavior and jump logic.
Challenges we ran into
Balancing jump physics for smooth gameplay and ensuring consistent multiplayer synchronization under network latency were key challenges.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We achieved intuitive, responsive jump mechanics and a seamless multiplayer experience, creating a game that’s easy to pick up but fun to master.
What we learned
We learned how to extend a kit with original content, optimize performance for mobile, and effectively integrate GenAI into both visual and functional aspects of the world.
What's next for Jump Quest (Update)
Future updates will introduce new platform themes, group challenges, and events to keep the game fresh and socially engaging.
