Inspiration
We got tired going to clubs and venues where we don't like the music we hear
What it does
Allows people at a venue to request music from the DJ, and see what's currently playing
Nightclubs and festivals: View playlist at various clubs in the city, and request music from the DJ while at the club/festival.
Restaurant or public venue: Acts like a jukebox where one can request songs to be played.
Radio: Request a song to be played on the radio. Allows Radio stations to engage more with their listeners.
How we built it
We built an Android front-end application. It's an interface allowing the user to view the currently playing music, and send music requests to the DJ. It connects to our custom API server (built in python and Flask) where data is managed, and requests are handled.
What we've learned
This is the first time we've ever created an API, first time using android studio, and first time setting up an API server.
What's next for Jukebox
Currently we only have a Front-End for users. We want to create a frontend for our DJ or the persons responsible for music at venues. We want to integrate the application with existing DJ'ing software, for a smoother interaction. On the business side of things, we want to explore monetization options, having a user account where each user can store their favorite music to request later on, and finding various channels so that event organizers can engage their audience.
