Inspiration
JUANDI was born from a simple but powerful question: What if technology could help us understand and support people with Autism Spectrum Disorder before a crisis happens, rather than only reacting afterward? We identified that families, teachers, and therapists often manage fragmented information and lack a shared view of the person's daily experience. We wanted to create a solution that brings this support network together and puts the person at the center.
What it does
JUANDI is a digital ecosystem for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) that connects families, teachers, therapists, and caregivers in one platform. It centralizes relevant information, enables daily tracking, and uses AI and data from different sources to identify patterns associated with stress or dysregulation. The goal is to generate preventive alerts and provide a more personalized, coordinated, and proactive support experience.
How we built it
We built JUANDI through an iterative research, design, and validation process. We started by understanding the needs of families and professionals, then translated those insights into the platform's architecture, user profiles, workflows, and visual identity. We developed a functional MVP with dashboards, shared records, predictive planning, AI-supported insights, and multiple user profiles. We also designed the integration layer to allow data from wearables and other sources to be connected to the platform without depending on a single hardware manufacturer.
Challenges we ran into
One of our biggest challenges was designing a solution for an ecosystem where every person with ASD is different. We had to balance personalization with simplicity while considering the needs of multiple users. Another challenge was translating complex clinical, behavioral, and technological concepts into an intuitive experience. We also had to carefully define how AI and physiological data could support decision-making without replacing professional judgment.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are especially proud of transforming an initial idea into a functional and tested MVP. We validated the platform with real users, receiving 49 visits during the testing period, including participation from Argentina, El Salvador, and the United States. User feedback highlighted the platform's usability, organization, potential of AI, and value as a centralized support tool. Most importantly, the validation helped us identify concrete opportunities for improvement and confirmed the relevance of the problem we are addressing.
What we learned
We learned that technology alone is not enough. The real value comes from connecting people, information, and context. We also learned that personalization is essential when designing for ASD, and that users want technology that supports them without making their daily lives more complicated. The validation process showed us that listening to users continuously is as important as building the technology itself.
What's next for Juandi app
Our next step is to launch JUANDI in Argentina, where we will continue validating the solution with families and professionals and strengthen our clinical and technological validation. We plan to improve the predictive capabilities of the platform, expand user profiles, integrate wearable devices and additional data sources, and continue developing the AI model. Once the solution is consolidated in Argentina, our vision is to expand progressively across Latin America, bringing JUANDI to more families and support networks.
