AI chatbots give great advice, but they can't help you actually implement it in your life. Submitting on the Real-Time Teacher strategic track, Joy is the AI Happiness Assistant for your commute, helping close the intention-action gap with deliberate practice, nudging, and situational support.

114.4 million Americans drive alone commuting almost an hour a day on average, dead time that causes high unhappiness and stress. Joy transforms that commute dead time through voice interactions over a normal hands-free Bluetooth phone call, coaching the commuter on the science and wisdom of increasing happiness based on positive psychology and allowing them to enter work (morning) or home (evening) with a much better mindset. Additionally, Joy is designed to operate through normal text messaging as well, where a user can share a link to any article, podcast, or video for her to extract the advice and help them integrate it into their daily life during the commute calls. They can also send a picture of a book, bookshelf, or article for discussion and integration.

Joy uses the Gemini Live API for voice in addition to 3.0 Flash with Search for texting, link scanning, and image reading, and 3.0 Pro for post-interaction analysis after a voice or text conversation to save long-term memories and prepare a briefing of follow-up topics for the next call.
