Inspiration
Our inspiration was the importance of positive mental health and giving users an outlet to write about positive things in their life.
What it does
This web-app a journal that has generated prompts related to feeling grateful, then upon submission a generated 'Quotes API' will pop up to inspire the user.
How we built it
For the UI/UX elements of the website, we used HTML, CSS, and some JavaScript. As for creating the databases and integrating in APIs, we used Firebase.
Challenges we ran into
Delegating tasks and understanding how to merge branches using GitHub to frontend, backend, and our database.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of our project as we were able to have a frontend, backend, and databse present for our web-app. We also were able to use an API in the process.
What we learned
On top of learning how to use new tools and frameworks, we realized just how important communication is within the group. Splitting up the roles and responsibilities in a clear manner at the beginning of the project goes a long way in ensuring a smooth workflow and fewer conflicts.
What's next for Journify Gratitude
Aside from fixing the current bugs and sprucing up the interface and design of the website, we also hope to add more features relating to promoting positive mental health. For example, we wanted to integrate an API that displays inspirational quotes for the user to reflect on, a daily mood tracker, and a discussions board where different users can talk to each other and find friends.
