Inspiration
Several of us are deeply interested in urban mobility and all of us use several biking sharing systems in BCN (Bicing and AMBici) so we thought this project would be very interesting. Also, being students from UPC as well, we were personally invested in solving some of these challenges.
What it does
We have built a browser application using python where you can look at the data we have studied.
How we built it
We used a python library called Streamlit which enables the creation of web application with ease with great compatibility with graphic libraries, in particulat Plotly.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenge was finding meaningful data to analyze and use for our project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Being able to create meaningful visualizations that help to solve the proposed challenges.
What we learned
Coming from different backgrounds, everyone offered different insights and we some of us were prompted with a programming challenge for the first time. We now have a better understanding of the problems with urban mobility for students at UPC
What's next for Journey to UPClean: from private to eco-friendly mobility
We would like to look for additional data that we missed during the project (e.g. AMBici data). Furthermore, more analysis could have been performed with more time.
