What it does
In this game, you use your mouse to move around and you left-click to move forward. Collect coins to buy upgrades and collect fuel before you run out of it!
How I built it
We used the Scratch engine, this allowed us to make it easier for us to create art and import it. To give it the 3D look we increase the size of each clone (star/coin/fuel) can by a certain rate when you press the arrow key to make it appear you are gliding through space. When this clone became a certain size it would disappear, but if the center of the clone was within a part of the game screen, it would register it as if you picked up a coin or a fuel can. When this clone disappears because it reached a certain size, When you moving your mouse around, the clones move in the opposite direction making it appear as if you are traveling through space, and if a clone hits the edge of the screen, another one would appear in a random location at the other side of the map.
Challenges I ran into
One of the challenges we ran into was trying to make it look like it was 3D. Scratch can only make 2D games so we had to make it seem like you were playing a 3D game
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Once thing we're proud of in this project is the artwork.
What I learned
We learned how to convert Scratch games to Javascript. We also learned how to make better art and how to create clones and program them to be different from each other
What's next for Journey 3D (A Space Game)
Maybe we could add an extra difficulty, making it so coins are twice the amount of it's value but there are enemies you have dodge.
