Inspiration

There are lots of advantages to journaling. It generally helps us manage anxiety, reduce stress, and cope with depression.

More specifically, journaling can help you prioritize fears and concerns, identify negative thoughts and behaviours, and recognize trends in behaviour and learn to better manage them.

What it does

JournAll allows users to write journal entries and keep them in their calendar to view later.

But we all know that journaling alone does not make for a healthy life. That's why JournAll tracks all user's habits such as sleep, exercise, and relaxation time.

JournAll will recommend videos that will help in the areas you feel you’re doing poorly. Not getting enough sleep? Here’s a video of a doctor giving his top tips on how to fall asleep. Or, here’s a video of calming whale noises if that’s more your jam. Whatever the case, JournAll’s video recommender shows you helpful videos that you might not have searched for on your own.

Lastly, JournAll will track a user’s mood so they can see the results of all their wellness efforts.

JournAll helps you work towards improving your mental health, one day at a time.

How we built it

Our frontend uses the React framework which supports useful libraries for features such as a calendar and data visualization. Our backend uses Django because of its flexibility and its REST API.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're super proud of our frontend design and UI. We took this opportunity to try out new frameworks so we're proud of how much we adapted and learned throughout just one weekend!

What's next for JournAll

Collaborative Filtering: In the future, our Youtube videos will be recommended using collaborative filtering AI. We’ll recommend videos more highly if they are deemed useful to a lot of people. This way, the community will help filter our resources to be more helpful.

Data Visualization: JournAll will summarize mood and habit information into easy-to-read graphs in order to help users keep track of their long term goals.
