Inspiration

I have always wanted to grow my own Christmas tree. Although conditions like sunlight, temperature, or watering might not always be met. I created Jolly Tree Farm as a simulation of a growing tree to let others have a feeling of what it's like to grow a plant.

What it does

The goal of my game is to grow your Christmas tree! You have to monitor its sunlight, temperature, and water levels. There are requirements for each level of growth and water must be collected by a minigame.

How we built it

I built this project by using previous knowledge of C# through my school coding program.

Challenges we ran into

I ran into a challenge of randomizing the raindrops and being able to collect them with a bucket. I overcame this challenge by creating a separate timer with a random starting time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud of being able to create a playable game with the functionality of arrow keys, so the user can interact with my project.

What we learned

I learned that visualizing my project before starting to code it was very helpful. For example, the placements of the sun and the multiple trees helped me decide where to put the watering bucket.

What's next for Jolly Tree Farm

Further advancements of my project could be decorating the tree once it's fully grown or selling it.
