What it does
This is a project that allows people to submit their favorite jokes. In addition when people visit the site they can read jokes submitted by other people to spread happiness.
How I built it
The back-end runs on a react server hooked up to amazon aurora db to store and read different jokes available. If people seem to really like a joke submitted, it has a popularity counter that suggests it might be worth showing to new visitors.
What I learned
From this project I learned the basics of react and aurora db. This project was more of an intro project into the tech and allowed me to explore what is possible.
What's next for jokes
As this project was mostly experimental, I have no plans of scaling it up for the future. It might be fun to use as a joke book to track some of my best puns so that I don't forget them for the future. My favorite one that I'll leave for the audience is this riddle, Q: Why does Waldo always wear stripes?
A: Because he doesn't want to be spotted.
