Inspiration
In a previous buffet we had the problem that we we're around 10 persons, and to get the food we had to make a list with the number of the item and quantities. We had issues like a certain item should have been ordered more units than what was actually ordered, and also the other way around.
What it does
This project helps get an environment where everyone can add individually their selection, and one person of the group see all of them
Challenges we ran into
We ran mainly into setup problems, such as misconfigurations from the DBMS, non-available libraries, hosting errors, etc, which we have mostly been able to fix.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Being able to build a working concept of the project
What we learned
We didn't have much knowledge on how PHP interacts with MySQL, and how to pass information between pages in websites, which we have learned this weekend.
What's next for Join&Eat
We want to continue developing this project, by creating native apps for both Android and iOS, a more user-friendly website, better design of it and a serverless aproach. We'll also try to implement a offline mode, that uses small range communication protocols such as Bluetooth or Wi-Fi Direct to transfer data between each user in the group and possibly directly with staff at the restaurant.
