Inspiration
To be completely honest, we do not have a tear-jerking inspiration story. The idea simply came to Ben, one of our team members, when he was brainstorming possible transformative applications of Blockchain. We originally thought of applying Blockchain to help create a secure record of mechanical repairs done on cars, but that idea had already been taken. He then asked: "Where else can we best leverage the advantages of blockchain in?" Job resumes became the next obvious choice.
What it does
JobTrust is a Blockchain based platform that helps individuals create secure resumes with verified ID, Employment history and Manager reviews. This, in effect, empowers recruiters to complete Employment background checks instantly and without little to no costs.
How we built it
Joseph was responsible for Back-end and utilized Python. Karan was responsible for the Decentralized Database and utilized Solidity. Ben was responsible for the Front-end and utilized React. Jingle was responsible for Design and utilized Photoshop.
Challenges we ran into
- Communicating effectively under stressful situations.
- Connecting Ethereum Ropsten to the Python Backend.
- Falling asleep, especially when we all we can think of is this Hackathon.
Accomplishments that we are proud of
- Out of the 24 hours we had, we only spent 2 hours on sleep.
- We are proud to have a diverse team of 4 with families that originated from Lebanon, India, Malta and China.
- Completing a blockchain MVP within 24 hours
What we've learned
- A team of 4 can accomplish a lot in 24 hours.
- Clear communication is easier said than done, especially under pressure. But what we found was clear communication can actually alleviate some of that pressure, since part of this pressure comes from not knowing what exactly needs to be done.
What's next for JobTrust
- If our idea is proven to be successful in this Hackathon, every member of our team has affirmed that they are willing to dedicate their time to further develop this idea into a business.
