Inspiration
With the fluctuating job market, job security is a concern for many individuals. A job application tracking app can help alleviate some of the stress and anxiety associated with job searching. We wanted to provide job seekers with a platform where they can manage all their applications, upcoming interviews, and offers comfortably and easily.
What it does
JobTrackr is a mobile app designed to help job seekers manage and track all their job applications and interviews in one place. With our app, you can easily create and customize your job applications, set reminders for follow-up tasks, and keep track of your interview schedules.
How we built it
JobTrackr was built using HTML, CSS, Javascript, and components from Bootstrap. We used Firebase for user authentication and Firestore Database to store the user data.
Challenges we ran into
Uploading user submission data and retrieving it from Firestore (especially with understanding the asynchronous parts of the functions). Linking between Firestore documents and Firebase Storage files. Prioritizing the most important features based on time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Completing our first hackathon with a functional prototype of the app.
What we learned
One of the coolest things we learned was how to deploy our website on netlify. We also improved our skills in JS and using Firebase and Firestore. Overall it was a great experience and we are looking forward to working together again!
What's next for JobTrackr
We are looking to implement a calendar feature to display upcoming interviews. In addition, we would like a feature so that users can provide more information about the job offers they received, such as salary, benefits, vacation days, etc. So users are able to compare different offers.
