Inspiration
We were inspired by shortform content like Tiktok and Instagram Reels and wondered how we could make that doom scrolling time more productive without being boring.
What it does
JobSwipe allows you to mindlessly swipe through Linkedin job posts in brainrot-short-form content. Finally, you can feel productive while bedrotting.
How we built it
We started by making an API to generate the videos the user sees. The API starts by searching Linkedin for job postings and then picks a random job listing. After, we give that job listing to Google Gemini Flash 2.5 and allow it to create a script. We then give that script to Elevenlabs for the voice over and compile it all together with Remotion with NodeJS code.
Challenges we ran into
Our biggest challenge was rendering the videos. The rendering pipeline constantly hung at 94% completed due to encoding errors and now having powerful enough computers at our disposal.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Getting Gemini and Eleven Labs to work together to create a script + voiceover. This took an insane amount of time as Gemini's output is heavily determined by the quality of the prompt given.
What we learned
Me and my team learned alot about API's and React Native's quirks.
What's next for JobSwipe
A more robust video rendering pipeline could go a long way. Additionally, we want to include the ability for a more customized video feed
