Jobs Ahoy!

Inspiration - We went to a cybersecurity field trip around november. They had spoken about hackathons and from the beginning, we were already invested in doing one. But our school doesnt do hackathon competitions since we do not have a high enough budget to host them. So, we asked around for advice and found devpost, we wanted to compete in one to prove to our engineering teacher why we should throw one in our school since it would be a learning oppurtunity for others who want to test the field out.

What it does - Our project is about unemployment. We made a website to help increase employment rates in our generation since the employment rates drastically decrease yearly. We have 4 different categories : career quiz, resume building, different job categories, and interview tips. This is to ensure our viewers feel more confident when going into the field to get a job.

How we built it- First, we used google sites to make our website - Jobs Ahoy- . Then, we used paperform to make our career quiz which is the first thing you will do in the series of pages. We used pixabay.com for all our photos to make sure it was not copyrighted. After that, we used canva for the resume building to get examples of how a resume should be built. Lastly, we made our pitch on the computer and uploaded it to youtube and embedded it.

Challenges we ran into- Some challenges we ran into was which site to use to make our website. First we tried wix but it was challenging since we had never used it so to fix our issue, we used google sites which is easier for beginners like us. One other challenge we had was making the quiz since we can not make results on it. We solved this issue by making the recipitent enter their email so we may send them the results directly to their email.

Accomplishments that we're proud of -We are proud of knowing we made our first ever website along with finishing the entire project sooner than we had thought we could do.

What we learned - We learned how to use the google sites platform, make quizzes on paperform, and how significant of a problem unemployment is.

We can put more examples of potential jobs along with becoming more international with our work. We can also make a search engine with filters for finding jobs that you believe are ideal for you!
