🧠 Inspiration

Manufacturing never slows down — but communication tools haven’t kept up.

JobLine.ai was inspired by real frustrations inside high-mix CNC and aerospace job shops, where workers constantly asked:
“Where’s that job?”, “Why is this idle?”, and “What’s the next priority?”

Manual whiteboards, slow ERP updates, and constant interruptions create chaos, costing time, money, and trust. We saw an opportunity to replace this with instant, intelligent communication — and to make it engaging.

We wanted to build something that didn’t just manage job flow, but empowered people to improve it.

JobLine.ai is a smart AI-powered expeditor platform for manufacturing teams. It:

Instantly answers natural language questions like:
- “What jobs are on hold?”
- “Where is job 9310?”
- “What’s running on Mill 2?”
Reprioritizes jobs in real time based on:
- Machine downtime
- Rush jobs
- Material shortages or shift changes
Provides dashboards for:
- Job queue visibility
- Machine status
- Role-based access for operators, leads, and managers
Rewards teams for:
- Logging improvements
- Preventing quality issues
- Completing safety actions

It's a digital expeditor, scheduling engine, and workforce motivator in one.

🧱 How we built it

🧗 Challenges we ran into

🤖 Interpreting Job Queries

Training the AI to understand floor-level language like “the job on the lathe” required flexible prompt design and fallback logic.

🔁 Live Rescheduling Logic

Developing an algorithm that can reprioritize jobs live — without conflicting with human oversight — needed multiple logic tiers and override paths.

🔐 Multi-Org RLS Policies

Ensuring secure, scalable access to job data across orgs without leaking information meant refining row-level security with careful joins.

🎮 Gamification Without Noise

We had to avoid shallow gamification. Points only count when tied to measurable safety, quality, or efficiency gains.

📚 What we learned

Natural language in manufacturing requires domain-specific prompts and fallback conditions
Floor operators want visibility — not complexity — and trust grows when tools are fast and accurate
Gamification is powerful when tied to real metrics and personal outcomes
Real-time logic must be visible — users need to understand why a job was reprioritized
