Inspiration

Creating a job portal website focusing on marginalized genders is a great way to support diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.

What it does

JobKamao is a job platform that connects women, non-binary individuals, and other underrepresented groups with job opportunities in tech and other industries. They also offer career advice and resources.

How we built it

  1. Conduct research: Research the job market for marginalized genders, including job search habits, challenges, and opportunities.
  2. Develop a database and user interface: Develop a database to store job listings and a user interface that allows job seekers to search for jobs and apply online. Considering the features such as job alerts, resume builders, and career resources.
  3. Partner with employers: Partner with employers and organizations committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  4. Promote your job portal and regular Updates.

Challenges we ran into

Limited job opportunities: Depending on the industry and location, there may be limited job opportunities available for individuals from marginalized genders. This can make it difficult to provide job listings that meet the needs of job seekers. Limited funding and resources: Building and maintaining a job portal requires significant funding and resources. As a result, securing adequate funding and resources may be a challenge. Limited user engagement: Encouraging job seekers and employers to use the job portal can be a challenge. It may take time and effort to build a user base and establish the job portal as a trusted resource in the job market. Limited partnerships: Building partnerships with employers and organizations that share your values can be a challenge. You may need to invest significant time and effort into networking and building relationships. Limited technical expertise: Building and maintaining a job portal requires technical expertise in areas such as web development and data management. Limited technical expertise can be a challenge for some individuals or organizations. Overcoming bias and discrimination: Bias and discrimination in the job market can make it challenging for individuals from marginalized genders to find meaningful employment. Addressing these issues may require a multi-faceted approach that includes education, advocacy, and policy change.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Making a positive impact on the lives of job seekers and their communities: Ultimately, the greatest accomplishment of building a marginalized gender job portal is making a positive impact on the lives of job seekers and their communities. By creating opportunities for marginalized genders to find meaningful employment, you are helping to improve their quality of life and contribute to a more equitable and just society.
