Inspiration

As NUS students, finding an internship or a permanent job is definitely on everyone's mind. In our current situation, applying for a job requires time and dedication; crafting a formal email and making sure you follow a specific resume format so that the ATS score would grant you the advantage over your job competitor(s).

What it does

Jobee provides job-seekers and employers with a new strategy to interact with one another; job-seekers can add their profiles and resume. Afterwhich, they can ##swipe-and-apply. By swiping to the right, the job hunter would indicate that they are interested in and willing to accept an interview.

How we built it

React-Native and Firestore can utilize third-party authentication UI libraries to authenticate users, display card-style data, and provide users with an authentic and smooth experience in applying for a new job position.

Challenges we ran into

  1. We tried to use Indeed's API to do job hunting, but the documentation and scarce community support made it difficult to navigation the API's usage
  2. As fresh React-Native developers, we found it challenging to implement an interactive card tool and create a hierarchal project architecture

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  1. Creating a Card system for a job reviewing and application

What we learned

  1. Learn React-Native
  2. Understand the libraries available for React-Native
  3. Firebase (Auth, Database)

What's next for Jobee

Scrape job data to populate our job listings and provide a filter based on the skills that job-seekers have
