Inspiration

The job search process is often overwhelming and can get lonely at times if you don't have friends going through it at the same time as you.

There are also various serious scattered across the internet to aid in your search, it can seem like you're missing out on something the hired candidates have. This is where JobCircle comes in!

What it does

It has three main components:

  1. Job application tracker: Keep track of your applications and set up customized reminders for moving along the recruitment timelines

  2. Review hub: Submit structured reviews of the company's recruitment process and access structured reviews submitted by others

  3. Community: Ask questions and answer questions posted by others in our community group chats

Users create accounts and gain access to the above components. This gives them a single resource to leverage when they start their job-hunting process.

How we built it

We initially spent a lot of time researching existing solutions and finding pain points in them. Once we had identified the features we wanted to implement, we began building a mock-up in Figma. After multiple iterations of the mock-ups, we started to code the website in HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Since we ran into challenges while coding, we switched back to Figma and decided to make a concept MVP just Figma and its interactions.

Challenges we ran into

The first challenge we ran into was coding the website. As most of us were either beginners to coding or more familiar with backend coding, we had challenges setting up the pages in Replit and creating the links between each page. We tried to switch to Webflow but ran into troubles with working on the platform collaboratively.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of having created an MVP for our idea from scratch within the given time.

What we learned

We learned the importance of constant communication and collaborative coding. We also learnt how to design and create a pitch for our project.

What's next for JobCircle

In the future, we plan to partner with schools and companies to improve the reviews and learning resources offered. We also plan to collaborate with existing solutions like LinkedIn to ensure our users can go through the recruitment process without leaving the app.
