Inspiration
Finding a job can be a stressful endeavor. New graduates may be unsure how to navigate unfamiliar waters, and massive tech layoffs have left thousands looking for new employment. We wanted to create something that could make the transition easier, and more effective, reducing the negative mental health effects that can take a toll on all those unable to find work.
What it does
Jobality works by presenting users with 5 questions, to assess their personality and find them a job that would be a good fit. At the end of the questionnaire, they are presented with an ideal company that shares some core values, and a link which shows positions that company is currently hiring for.
How we built it
We built the entirety of this project using CSS, HTML and Javascript. Planning was done on Figma, and wire flows were created to envision how the application would function.
Challenges we ran into
We had trouble figuring out how to implement our idea, as we are all relatively new to all aspects of mobile app development. We also had trouble getting the CSS to work properly within the different HTML pages.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the sleek, and appealing UX/UI that we have created. We feel it is very user friendly, and incorporates Schneiderman's 8 design rules. We are also proud that we were able to put together and present a project, as it is the first time any of us participated in a hackathon. The color gradients and button interactions are elements we are especially proud of.
What we learned
We learned how important it is to communicate to work together effectively as a team. We also learned how to incorporate new ideas on the fly, as well as disregard ideas that are no longer feasible. Another great lesson was how much effort and cooperation it truly takes to develop a web application, and have a greater appreciation for all the app developers out there. it wont let me submit without the video link so ill post this here so it doesn't get lost
What's next for Jobality
We hope to incorporate more JS functions to give our app functionality. Right now the blueprint is solid, but we would like to create a database of questions, and load them into the questionnaire. We would also like to increase the number of questions it asks, to further deepen and personalize the result at the end. Right now the button order that works is Bymyself - compass - I like to think more carefully.
