Inspiration

We have a friend who wishes to pivot industries and we thought that this would be a very help tool for individuals in a similar position.

What it does

It compares the skills needed for different jobs and shows how much overlap occurs between the skills of different professions

How we built it

The front-end was built with React and the back-end in Flask. We used Selenium WebDriver for scraping information from online job postings.

Challenges we ran into

All the online resumes have very different formats which really hinders our ability to retrieve the data that we need with the web scraper.

Learning React from scratch and building a front-end.

What's next for Job Skills Comparator

We plan to improve the web scraping by augmenting it with machine learning to more accurately pinpoint the key skill terms.
